Local leaders concerned after oil sheen begins hitting Pass a Loutre

PORT FOURCHON, La. - (May 17, 2010) Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Noored, from the 527th Engineer Battalion, Detachment 1, 844th Horizontal Company, directs trucks and tractors to locations to dump rock and sand. The rock and sand are used to help fill gaps in the basin plains caused by past natural disasters. The U.S. Army is working in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard, BP PLC, local residents, and other federal agencies to aid in preventing the spread of oil following the April 20 explosion on the mobile offshore drilling unit Deepwater Horizon.
