BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. -- The Hancock County Sheriff's Office says an inmate who escaped from jail Sunday is back in custody.

Perry Thomas had escaped the Hancock County Jail on Sunday with fellow inmate Montrell McPherson, according to the sheriff's office.

Thomas had been in jail after a chase Saturday night for missing court on a sexual battery of a minor charge, but with McPherson they were able to escape the jail grounds.

Deputies were able to arrested a bloodied and naked McPherson not far from the jail grounds, but Thomas was able to get a ride out of the area with the help of three women.

The sheriff's office hasn't released any further information on how or where Thomas was taken back into custody.
