BATON ROUGE, La. – No one has died in Louisiana as a result of the H1N1 virus over the past week, says the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, and the state is experiencing a “noticeable decrease” in the transmission of the flu.

The department says Louisiana’s total of H1N1-related deaths is now at 39.

To date there has been over 183,000 doses of vaccine administered in the state for the H1N1 virus, also known as swine-flu. The state has received 817,000 doses of the 1 million doses the state requested.

The department also says that everyone who wants the vaccine in Louisiana should be able to get it by the end of January.

Residents can call 2-1-1 for additional information regarding the 2009 H1N1 flu and can go to www.FightTheFluLA.com, where you can also find a flu-shot locator.
