Krispy Kreme offers free doughnuts in exchange for Mardi Gras beads

METAIRIE, La. -- For two days only, Krispy Kreme is giving away free doughnuts in exchange for a donation of Mardi Beads.

Customers who bring 12 pounds, or more, of Mardi Gras beads to the Clearview location of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, 825 Clearview Pkwy, will be given a dozen original glazed doughnuts or a coupon to be redeemed at a later date. 

The bead recycle drive will last two days, Monday, March 20-Tuesday, March 21. 

Beads can be dropped off between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Note: Beads will be weighed.

The pastry chain has partnered with Arc of Greater New Orleans, a local non-profit that works with people with intellectual disabilities. Arc's bead recycling program is open year-round. Employees and volunteers sort, band, repackage and sell the recycled beads to Carnival riders.
