A local teen died Tuesday from injuries he suffered after being struck while riding his bike by an allegedly drunk driver, authorities said.
Logan Bergeron, 14, of Gray, died Tuesday at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, State Police said.
Stephen Pellegrin, 28, of Houma, was driving on Country Estates Drive about 6:20 p.m. Friday when Bergeron cut in front of the truck and was hit, State Police said.
Police performed a breath test on Pellegrin, and he was found to be under the influence of alcohol, according to Troop C. He was charged with DWI.
Because Bergeron has died, Pellegrin will be charged with additional crimes, though that hasn’t happened yet, Trooper Evan Harrell said. State Police are discussing with the Terrebonne Parish District Attorney’s Office what Pellegrin should be charged with.
Bergeron suffered serious injuries and was taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, police said. He was later flown to Children’s Hospital.
