HOUMA, La. (AP) — A Houma man arrested in November after police said he robbed a doughnut shop pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The Courier reports (http://bit.ly/M1zPBb ) authorities charged that Joe Massey, 46, walked into Mr. Ronnie's Donuts and demanded money from the clerk. Police said he slapped a female employee and fled with an undetermined amount of cash. He was captured a short time later.
Massey's trial was to take place this past week but Terrebonne Parish Assistant District Attorney Matt Hagen said Massey instead pleaded guilty to a first-degree robbery charge.
He was sentenced by state District Judge George Larke.
