Larose, LA – Louisiana State Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a Larose man and his female passenger were killed, after a vehicle failed to stop at an intersection, and was struck by another vehicle on LA 3235 in Lafourche Parish.
According to State Police, shortly before 6:00 a.m. Monday morning, a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by 71-year-old Steven Bourg, was traveling west on LA 657 approaching the LA 3235 intersection in Larose, when he failed to stop for a stop sign and entered the intersection. As the Cavalier was crossing the intersection, it was struck on the driver’s side by a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling north in the left lane of LA 3235. The Silverado was being driven by 54-year-old Ivy Terrebonne Jr.
Terrebonne, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Lady of the Sea Hospital.
Bourg and the front seat passenger in the Cavalier, 63-year-old Patricia Farmer, were both pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office.
Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash however, routine toxicology tests are pending. Blood was taken from Terrebonne and the test results will be pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The crash remains under investigation, according to State Police.
