HOUMA, La. – Two men walked away from a plane crash with minimal injuries after the it went down on Woodlawn Ranch Road, not far from Houma-Terrebonne Airport.
The plane, piloted by Jake Wunstell, 23, of Houma and with owner and passenger James Cloutier, 53, of Morgan City, went down around 8:15 p.m. Monday evening, according to the Terrebonne Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies from the Terrebonne sheriff’s office responded to the crash site, Wunstell and Cloutier already had made their way out of the plane, which was sitting on its roof, according to police.
“Wunstell received facial injuries from the crash and there were no reported injuries for Cloutier. Acadian Ambulance transported Wunstell to Terrebonne General Hospital to receive further treatment for his injuries,” said Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois in a statement.
The men were apparently flying from New Mexico, with a stop in San Angelo, Texas before heading to Houma, according to police.
FAA investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.
