A Houma man died after falling off a houseboat during a hunting trip this weekend in Gibson, authorities said.
The body of Wayne Cancienne, 54, of 3204 Southdown Mandalay Road, was found Saturday floating in the Bluebird Canal next to the houseboat, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies received a call early Saturday morning from one of two others aboard the boat, who said they awoke to find Cancienne missing. Water Patrol deputies and detectives searched the area and found his body.
The incident appears to be an accident, the Sheriff's Office said. No foul play is suspected.
The Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office was scheduled to conduct an autopsy later Saturday.
