COCODRIE, La. -- The body of a Golden Meadow man was found Sunday in a submerged vehicle off of Hwy. 56 in Terrebonne Praish.

Shawn Dardar, 29, was driving south on Hwy. 56 at an unknown time in the morning when he veered off road and hit a fence pole, according to Louisiana State Police.

Dardar also collided with a concrete barrier wall used for gasoline storage tanks and three support pilings.

The owner of the storage tanks notified police about his damaged property, and police later found the vehicle submerged in the water.

A toxicology test is pending, and alcohol use is unknown. Dardar wasn't wearing a seat belt.
