A Houma teenager poured gasoline on his mother and tried to set her on fire early Saturday morning, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Markwan Trosclair, 17, of 3734 Thomas Drive, drizzled gas on his 33-year-old mom, and around their living room and kitchen about 6:10 a.m., Maj. Malcolm Wolfe said. The teen’s two siblings were inside the home at the time of the incident.
As Troclair attempted to strike a lighter, his mother pushed him out of the home, locked the door and called the Sheriff’s office, Wolfe said.
Houma Police found Trosclair walking near the Houma Twin Span Bridge shortly afterwards and arrested him with aggravated battery domestic violence, attempted aggravated arson. He allegedly had marijuana, and was charged with possession.
He was taken to the Terrebonne Parish jail and is awaiting a bond hearing.
