HOUMA, LA -- A fire on East Main Street near the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in Houma sent four to the hospital late Friday night.
The blaze broke out in a second story apartment building sometime before 11 p.m. Friday. The fire was in control but continued to burn at 1 a.m., according to Houma Fire Department District Chief Terry Leonard.
Four people were injured exiting the building. Their injuries were not life threatening, according to Ed Smith with Acadian Ambulance Service.
How the fire started is unclear, Leonard said.
