GALLIANO, La. -- Authorities have recovered the body of a 35-year-old man who was unable to escape his truck after it became submerged in Bayou Lafourche following an accident.
The accident happened just after 1 a.m. Sunday morning on La. 308 near the Galliano Bridge.
Louisiana State Police say Cesar Franco, 35, was driving his F-150 when he veered off to the right side of the road. He lost control of the vehicle, which rolled over into the bayou onto its roof.
Lafourche Parish deputies pronounced Franco dead on the scene.
Toxicology results are pending, but police believe impairment "may be a factor in the crash."
The official cause of death hasn't been determined.
Police say Franco was not wearing a seat belt.
