RACELAND, La. -- A motorcyclist has died after a Saturday afternoon crash in Lafourche Parish.

The accident happened on LA 1 southbound just north of Raceland at about 1 p.m.

Leo Robinson, 69, was driving a 2007 Honda Goldwing when he approached a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am parked on the side of the road.

The driver of the Grand Am, 74-year-old Nelma Naquin, tried to make a u-turn but didn't yield to Robinson, police said. Robinson had to veer left and brake, causing his bike to fall to the ground and eventually hit Naquin's driver side door.

Robinson became trapped under his bike and the Grand Am. First responders were able to transport him to the hospital, but he was later pronounced dead. Naquin suffered only minor injuries.

Blood alcohol tests are pending, but officials don't believe alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash.

Robinson was wearing a certified helmet.
