RACELAND, La. - A 21-year-old man was killed after a car he was a passenger in slammed into another vehicle in a head-on collision Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m.
According to State Police, a Chevy Malibu being driven by Alfred Carter IV was traveling west on LA 182 when it crossed the center line and struck a Volvo that was headed in the other direction.
The passenger in the Malibu is identified as 21-year-old Andrew Carter of Thibodaux. State Police said he was not belted at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene. Alfred Carter IV was restrained by a belt and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Thibodaux Regional.
The driver of the Volvo, identified as 65-year-old Loraine Bourgeois of Metairie, was taken to Thibodaux Regional with serious injuries.
State Police said alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but blood was taken from both drivers and results are pending.
