Police find car in a Houma bayou with woman's body inside

A woman died in the early morning hours of Monday when the car she was driving crashed into Bayou Black, Houma Police officials said.

Leslie English, 43 of Missy Street was travelling westbound on Bayou Black Drive sometime after 11:30 pm Sunday night when she her car left the road, struck two tress and landed in the bayou.

At around 11 am Monday Houma Police responded to a call in reference to English’s car, a 2005 silver Cadillac Deville overturned and submerged in the bayou. Upon removal detectives discovered English’s body in the car. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

English was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
