RACELAND, La. — A Raceland man was arrested after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and attacking a man inside before inappropriately fondling the woman, authorities said.
According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Randy Gilton knocked on the door of his ex-girlfriend’s house on St. Phillip Street in Raceland on June 15 only to have her refuse to speak to him.
Gilton then allegedly kicked in the door, attacking a man inside the house and hitting him several times, Lafourche Public Information Officer Brennan Matherne said.
That attack was followed by one on Gilton’s ex-girlfriend. He struck her, then pulled off part of her clothing before he “sexually fondled” her against her will, Matherne said.
Gilton fled, but not before punching a hole in the wall and breaking a cell phone. His ex-girlfriend was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Officers were unable to find Gilton that night. This past Friday, while patrolling Raceland, deputies saw Gilton and arrested him with incident, taking him to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
He was charged with sexual battery, domestic abuse battery, home invasion, felony simple criminal damage to property and simple battery. He’s being held in lieu of an $187,500 bond.
