RACELAND, La. -- A Raceland woman is accused of strangling a woman in her late 60s with a dog leash she put around her neck, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Lucy Adams, 42, of 237 Adams St., is charged with cruelty to the informed involving strangulation and aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon involving strangulation, deputies said.
Deputies said they were dispatched shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday to Adams’ residence after a woman reported a family member was trying to kill her.
The victim had been staying with Adams at the residence, but Adams said she could no longer live there, deputies said.
Adams allegedly fastened a dog leash around the victim’s neck and at one point allegedly squeezed the leash around the neck, strangling the victim, deputies said. Adams also allegedly attempted to pull the victim outside the residence with the leash.
Adams was being held on a $2,000 bond at the Lafourche Parish jail.
