RACELAND, La. -- A Raceland man is facing attempted murder charges after nearly beating a woman to death in Lafourche Parish, according to Sheriff Craig Webre.
Gerovonta Bourda, 27, faces an attempted second-degree murder charge.
Webre said Bourda got into an argument Monday with a 45-year-old woman that became physical. Bourda allegedly slammed the victim against the ground several times, causing her to lose consciousness.
The victim didn’t head to the hospital or notify deputies until Thursday, Webre said. She’s now stable.
Bourda is being held on a $200,000 bond in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
