RACELAND, La. — A shooting in Raceland Wednesday afternoon forced a local school briefly into lockdown, a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.
According to Deputy Brennan Matherne, officers responded to a shooting on Sylvester Road in which the victim was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The shooter was taken into custody, Matherne said.
However, because the shooting was near Raceland Lower Elementary School, it was placed in lockdown, a precautionary measure. No one was injured or in danger, Matherne said.
