BOURG, La. - A South Terrebonne High School student was arrested for allegedly threatening in class to shoot all the school's teachers, deputies said Wednesday.

Terry Allen Dubois, 18, 4277 Country Drive, Bourg, told the officer assigned to patrol the campus that the threats were a joke, Terrebonne Parish sheriff's Maj. Malcolm Wolfe said.

While in class Friday, Dubois allegedly said he would bring a gun to school and shoot the teachers. Dubois' teacher and another student overheard his threat, and they were alarmed, Wolfe said.

Dubois is charged with interfering with the process of an educational institution.

He remained today still in the Terrebonne Parish jail in lieu of a $500 bond, Wolfe said.

There was extra security at South Terrebonne High on Monday “as a precaution, but there were no incidents,” sheriff's Capt. Dawn Foret said.

There is usually just one officer assigned to South Terrebonne, but on Monday there were a few extra deputies at the school, Foret said.

Dubois, if convicted, could be fined up to $500 or jailed up to six months.

Efforts to contact Terrebonne schools Superintendent Philip Martin were not immediately successful.

He is the fourth student this month disciplined at a Terrebonne Parish school after allegedly making threats.

A student at TAPPS, the parish's alternative school for students with discipline problems, was arrested after allegedly calling in a fake bomb threat March 7 to Evergreen Junior High in Houma, officials said.

An Evergreen student was arrested about the same time and charged with terrorizing after allegedly starting rumors on Facebook that there would be a shooting at the school, authorities said. A third student was suspended for telling a classmate about a dream she had that there would be a school shooting.
