Arrest warrants have been issued for the parents of two toddlers killed in a fire March 15 inside their Houma home, police said today.

Houma Police said they are searching for Romell Welsh Sr. and Vaneshia L. Valentine, who are wanted on two counts each of manslaughter.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 800-743-7433.

Allegations that the couple may not have been home when their children, 2-year-old Romell Welsh Jr. and his 1-year-old sister, Ro'Miya Welsh, were trapped inside the burning house at 530 Hobson St. are unconfirmed but under investigation, officials said last week.

“I feel pretty comfortable in saying that the kids were left unattended in the home. Certainly charges against the parents are possible in this case,” State Fire Marshal Deputy Chief Brant Thompson said Friday.
