THIBODAUX, La. -- Deputies arrested a Gray woman for allegedly stabbing her ex-girlfriend Saturday, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.
Around 1 p.m., a 29-year-old victim was taken from Al's Trailer Park in Gray to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. The woman told deputies she went to the trailer court to get her personal belongings from her former girlfriend, according to Major Malcolm Wolfe, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.
"The former girlfriend is identified as Latoya Vincent," Wolfe said. "The victim said that she and Vincent got into an argument which turned into a physical altercation. The victim stated that Vincent grabbed a knife and cut her on her right ring finger and stabbed her in her left eye."
The victim was treated at the hospital and later released, Wolfe said.
When police questioned alleged assailant, "Vincent stated that she knew that the victim was on the way to her residence in order to start a fight with her; therefore, she said that prior to the victim arriving there she armed herself with a knife. Vincent said that during the altercation the victim tried to take the knife out of her hand when the victim was cut on her finger. Vincent claims that she did not know how that victim was stabbed in the eye," Wolfe said.
Vincent, 37, was arrested for aggravated second-degree battery, and was also booked on a 17th Judicial District arrest warrant for failure to appear in court. She remains in the Terrebonne Parish Jail without a bond.
