NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The St. Joseph's Residence Hall at Xavier University, heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, has been reconfigured and renamed the St. Joseph Academic and Health Resource Center.

St. Joseph's was built in 1965 and was one of the university's primary women's residence halls until the catastrophic flooding during the hurricane.

The $5 million renovation was funded mostly through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The building now houses writing, math, and reading centers, as well as counseling and health facilities, the graduate placement office and the Center for Intercultural and International Programs.
