Lafayette baby dies after being left in hot car

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Lafayette Parish sheriff's deputies say an 11-month-old baby died after being left in a hot car.

Deputies tell The Advertiser (http://bit.ly/Mr6bWG ) the baby was brought to the Women's and Children's Hospital on Monday afternoon, where it was pronounced dead.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation and the names of the parents and baby have not been released.

The high temperature in Lafayette Monday was 99 degrees.
