COVINGTON, La. (AP) — Work to replace the Penn Mill Road Bridge in western St. Tammany Parish will mean the bridge will be out of service for about a month, parish officials say.
The bridge is expected to close Aug. 8. Construction of a new bridge is expected to take about a month.
The parish is paying for the replacement project which will include repurposed railroad cars as culverts.
Parish officials say motorists should use Prudent Road to access U.S. Highway 190 while the bridge is closed.
