NAPOLEONVILLE, La. (AP) — State police say a 58-year-old Thibodaux man was killed when his pickup ran into a cane truck on La. Highway 308 in Assumption Parish.

Troopers say Don Williams Jr. was unable to escape the burning truck, which caught fire after hitting the tractor-trailer.

Troopers say speed is suspected as a factor in the high-impact crash, but Trooper Evan Harrell said Tuesday that troopers do not know what caused the pickup to catch fire.

The Assumption Parish Coroner's Office pronounced Williams dead at the scene.
