LOCKPORT, La. (AP) — Lockport Police Chief Warren Vedros says officers have arrested a 31-year-old woman accused of attacking an ex-boyfriend after breaking into his home.

Vedros, in a news release, says it happened just after 4 a.m. Thursday.

Officers arrived at a home in Lockport where they learned Sara Wainwright, of Raceland, had entered the home and began hitting a man several times with her fists while he was lying in bed. Police say the man escorted Wainwright outside his home but before leaving she allegedly threw a glass bottle at a truck, striking and shattering the rear window.

Officers later arrested Wainwright on charges of home invasion, domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property. She's being held at the parish detention center in Thibodaux in lieu of $6,500 bond.
