LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — A Duson man faces vehicular homicide charges following a two-car crash that killed three people, including a pregnant teenager, on a Lafayette Parish highway.
The Louisiana State Police said investigators believe 58-year-old Charles Moter was drunk at the time of Saturday afternoon's crash. He was booked into jail on charges including three counts of vehicular homicide, third-degree feticide and reckless driving.
Police said Moter was driving a truck north on Highway 343 when he tried to pass another vehicle and struck an oncoming car driven by 31-year-old Nathaniel Malone.
Three of Malone's passengers died in the crash. Police identified them as 33-year-old Joe Wise, of Scott; 14-year-old Cassie Kilby, of Duson; and 16-year-old Kaylin Flyte, of Crowley. All three passengers and Flyte's fetus were pronounced dead at the scene.
