BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Baton Rouge police are investigating a weekend shooting that left an officer working extra duty injured.
Authorities say Maj. Patricia Tauzin, while working extra duty at a dance party at McKinley High School Alumni Center, was struck in the right leg by a bullet after multiple shots were fired from an unknown direction at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday.
Tauzin was treated and released from Baton Rouge General Hospital. The 34-year veteran is the first woman to receive the rank of major in the Baton Rouge Police Department.
No other injuries were reported.
