BILOXI, Miss. (AP) — Biloxi real estate developer Scott DeLano took 53 percent of the vote in unofficial results to beat Patrick Collins in the special election for state House District 117.
The 38-year-old DeLano will now represent the district, which includes parts of West Biloxi and East Gulfport.
DeLano thanked his supporters, whom he said took a chance on someone who has never run for office.
The 45-year-old Collins said he congratulates DeLano on the victory. Collins tells The Sun Herald Tuesday night he will not contest the race, which was decided by 92 votes.
