KENNER, La. (AP) — A 22-year-old Kenner man has been booked with child desertion after police say he left his 2-year-old daughter in his unlocked car while he got a haircut.
Lt. Wayne McInnis, spokesman for the Kenner Police Department, said Wednesday that Jeremy N. Allen was arrested after a police officer working a private detail nearby found Allen's daughter in a car seat in an unlocked vehicle with the engine running.
McInnis told The Times-Picayune that Allen left the sleeping girl in the car for more than 15 minutes while he went into a barber shop.
Allen remains in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, where his bond has not been set.
It wasn't immediately clear if Allen has an attorney.
