Jefferson, LA - About 16,000 buildings on the east and west banks of Jefferson Parish were without power for about a half hour due to an issue at a Harahan substation.

A 'switch fire' at the substation caused Entergy to turn off power to the plant, resulting in the outages, which were mainly in the Avondale, Elmwood and Harahan areas.

Entergy said the power to those areas was rerouted and power was returned within about 30 minutes.
