NEW ORLEANS – Benjamin Franklin High School has again achieved a top ranking in Newsweek’s annual rating of the top public high schools in America.

The charter school located on the UNO campus was ranked 27th in the nation in the magazine’s system.
The magazine cites the following criteria in determining a school’s rank: graduation rate (25 percent), College matriculation rate (25 percent), AP tests taken per graduate (25 percent), average ACT/SAT scores (10 percent), average AP scores (10 percent) and number of AP courses offered per graduate (5 percent).
Also ranking among the top schools were Baton Rouge Magnet (122nd) and Natchitoches Magnet School (256th).
