HARVEY, La. - A blighted apartment complex where a 6-year-old girl was abducted and killed was bulldozed Friday.
The Woodmere apartment complex off Destrehan Avenue was in poor condition and the emergency demolition was approved by the Jefferson Parish Council Thursday.
The apartment building is one of six blighted properties in the area that were being considered for tear down.
Ahlittia North was taken by a relative and her body was found near the complex a few days later. Two men were arrested in the incident.
Matthew Flugence, 20, was booked with first-degree murder. Flugence, who was North's stepfather's nephew, sometimes babysat the child.
