NEW ORLEANS – Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in New Orleans East, according to New Orleans Police Department spokesman Officer Janssen Valencia.
Fifth District police officers were called to the 3400 block Almonaster Avenue around 10:30 p.m., according to police.
A 21-year-old male was found shot inside a Chevrolet Lumina, which had crashed into a home. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police. Two passengers inside the car, a 17-year-old and 20-year-old, were taken to the hospital with injuries.
“A four door Ford Taurus was also found across the street from the Chevy crashed into a fence and unoccupied,” said Valencia in an e-mail. “The unknown occupants of the Ford fled the scene after the incident. It is undetermined at this time the involvement of this vehicle and its occupants with this incident.”
