NEW ORLEANS – Several new Caribbean cruises are expected to launch in the city beginning April 20, 2014, according to a news release from Carnival Cruise Lines Friday.
The cruise ship Carnival Dream will provide year-round, seven-day trips to more than 400,000 guests annually from the Gulf Coast, Carnival officials said.
Officials reported that the 130,000-ton vessel is in it's newest, largest class of ships.
The company cruiser will be the only cruise line to operate two year-round ships from New Orleans, and officials said this will provide a 22 percent capacity increase on week-long sailing from the city.
Trips will range from three different eastern and western Caribbean options, according to officials. The 3,646-passenger vessel also plans to extend a six-day, round trip cruise from New Orleans to Costa Maya, Roatan and Cozumel April 14 next year, officials said.
