NEW ORLEANS – One week after the Landrieu administration announced a 10 percent cut for nearly every city employee, the mayor’s office issued a memo telling certain workers that they can’t get a second job to help with financial difficulties.
The memo, written by First Deputy Mayor Andy Kopplin, was handed out to employees Friday, saying that outside activities affect the over professional appearance of the city so that permanent second jobs are no longer allowed.
Employees could petition to take on a ‘temporary’ job.
The new mandate only affects unclassified workers, which range from city council members, members of the mayor’s staff, city attorneys, researchers, receptionists and secretaries.
Eyewitness News requested an interview with Kopplin, but we were told he was unavailable.
