BATON ROUGE, La. -- Former Gov. Edwin Edwards, 85, is about to be a father again, with his wife Trina announcing she has gone into labor Wednesday afternoon.
WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge confirmed the news Trina Edwards posted on her Facebook page, about the impending delivery: "Finished breaking my water," she posted.
Edwards announced that she was pregnant back in February, also via Facebook.
"As of today I am officially allowed to make that announcement I've been dying to make ... WE ARE EXPECTING!!," Trina wrote.
Both the 85-year-old former governor and his 34-year-old wife already have children from previous marriages. Trina Edwards has teenage sons and Edwin Edwards has two sons and two daughters who are in their 60s.
Edwards married Trina in 2011, shortly after he was released from federal prison. The two met when she visited him in prison.
