Chef Highway reopens after fatal accident closes it for nearly three hours

NEW ORLEANS - A fatal traffic accident Thursday morning in the 17000 block of Chef Highway closed a portion of the roadway for nearly three hours.

The driver was identified as Jeffery Broussard, 23, of Slidell.

Just before 6 a.m., three cars were involved in an accident near the entrance to Bayou Savage National Park, according to the NOPD.

All lanes were blocked in both directions between Highway 11 and Industrial Parkway. The section of the road reopened around 8:45 a.m.

Traffic was diverted to Highway 11. An alternate route is the twin spans.
