NEW ORLEANS (AP) — First Lady Michelle Obama will give the keynote speech at a Latino conference next month in New Orleans

Obama will be the keynote speaker at the National Council of La Raza's annual conference that will be held July 20-23 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Others scheduled to speak are entertainer Rita Moreno, National Urban League President and CEO Marc Morial and W.K. Kellogg Foundation President and CEO Sterling Speirn.

The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/147UFbC ) the conference is designed to draw attention to the growth of the Latino population in New Orleans and across the United States.

National Council of La Raza is the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights group. More than 5,000 people have registered for the conference, which will include dozens of workshops and four town hall meetings.
