NEW ORLEANS -- A former manager at Commander's Palace was sentenced in federal court today to two years in prison today for stealing more than $268,000 from the restaurant.
Shawn Michael Haygood, 40, worked as a purchasing agent at the restaurant for three years. He pleaded guilty to computer fraud after authorities uncovered a false invoice scheme.
He used the fake invoices to allegedly purchase perishable food items for the restaurant. But he never actually bought the items, and pocketed the money instead.
U.S. District Court Judge Stanwood Duval Jr. issued the sentence this morning. He also ordered Haygood to pay full restitution to the restaurant, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office, which prosecuted the case.
