NEW ORLEANS – Former Orleans Parish School Board member Leslie Jacobs will officially throw her name Wednesday into the New Orleans mayoral race.
Jacobs served as a member of the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education in addition to the OP School Board, which she joined in 1992 after winning the only political campaign of her career.
She is also the founder of 504ward, an organization Eyewitness News highlighted earlier this year that aims to keep young professionals in New Orleans.
“Every New Orleanian wants the same things – safe neighborhoods, good jobs, better schools and honest government,” Jacobs said in a release. “But it will take a mayor who has the determination and experience to get the job done. That’s why I’m running. No more excuses, just results.”
Jacobs currently sits on the boards for Greater New Orleans Inc. and the New Orleans Business Council, where she is vice chairwoman. She resides Uptown.
