NEW ORLEANS – Former Orleans Parish School Board member Leslie Jacobs will officially throw her name Wednesday into the New Orleans mayoral race.

Jacobs served as a member of the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education in addition to the OP School Board, which she joined in 1992 after winning the only political campaign of her career.

She is also the founder of 504ward, an organization Eyewitness News highlighted earlier this year that aims to keep young professionals in New Orleans.

“Every New Orleanian wants the same things – safe neighborhoods, good jobs, better schools and honest government,” Jacobs said in a release. “But it will take a mayor who has the determination and experience to get the job done. That’s why I’m running. No more excuses, just results.”

Jacobs currently sits on the boards for Greater New Orleans Inc. and the New Orleans Business Council, where she is vice chairwoman. She resides Uptown.

With the recent conviction of Mr. Jefferson for bribery of a school board member, then looking at the state of our schools for the last 20 years why should we hire anyone who was involved with that board, regardless of race or gender, That board was responsible for teaching our kids & they failed at every level & if she was on the Board during that time frame, well what changes will she bring to the mayors office, look at the average age of those convicted for Drugsdistribution, theft & violent crimes those are students that came through the same board that she was on, they all failed to prepare our students for life, while they were paid for doing what? We need candidates that haave some type of integrity & dedicate themselves to this city for change to come !!!

If you vote for a quitter such as Jacobs, you deserve what you get!!! Remember she quit the school board!! At less Nagin didn’t quit, he may have ran to Texas when we really needed him, but he didn’t quit. If Leslie wins run don't walk away from New Orleans!!!!!
