Four metro area schools in Newsweek's 500 best American high schools

NEW ORLEANS - Four metro area schools made Newsweek's list of the 500 best American high schools - one of them even cracked the top 100.

Ben Franklin High School came in at number 76.

Patrick F. Taylor Science Technology Academy in Jefferson came in at  number 141.

Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies in Metairie and Thomas Jefferson High School in Gretna also placed in the top 500.

Newsweek's list is based on several factors, including a 4-year graduation rate, college enrollment and average SAT scores.
