HAMMOND, La. -- Police arrested a Hammond man for fatally shooting his father, according to the Hammond Police Department.
According to police, shortly before 10 a.m., Robert Lafargue, 30, called 911, telling the operator he had shot his father, Laurent Lafargue, 67, at a home in the 600 block of Rue Cannes, according to police.
"When officers arrived at the address, Robert Lafargue came out of his residence with no resistance and gave himself up to patrol officers," said a statement from Hammond Police.
"The victim was found in his bedroom as paramedics’ were called to the scene before the Coroner’s office was called."
Robert Lafargue was arrested and taken to the Hammond Police headquarters and then booked into the Hammond Jail. Lafargue will be charged with first degree murder and then transported to the Tangipahoa parish prison in Amite, according to police.
