NEW ORLEANS -- High water on the Mississippi River has now reached parts of Louisiana.

Water is now spilling through the wooden slats at the Bonnet Carre Spillway near Norco this afternoon.

The bottom road at the spillway is closed due to the high water.

The river is now at flood stage in the Natchez area, north of Baton Rouge.

The Mississippi River is now expected to crest at 14 and a half feet in New Orleans on May 21. That's 2 and a half feet below flood stage.
