PONCHATOULA, La. — Impairment is suspected in the death of a man who crashed his car on Louisiana Hwy. 445 in Tangipahoa Parish Thursday night.
Troopers said the man, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt when his 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck drifted off the road, causing him to overcorrect to the left.
The truck began spinning and crossed over into the southbound lane of the highway before running off the road again. Troopers said the truck then struck a ditch embankment and overturned, ejecting the man.
He was taken to North Oaks Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
