GRETNA, La. – A deputy has been fired after he was booked with aggravated rape and abuse of office Wednesday, said Jefferson Parish Newell Normand.
Normand said 36-year-old Brett Casimir, a Gretna resident, confessed to intimidating a 22-year-old woman into performing a sex act Wednesday in the back seat of his police car after pulling her over for a minor traffic violation.
Normand said after Casimir found that the victim had an outstanding warrant, he put her in handcuffs and placed her in the police car. He told her he would let her go if she performed a sex act on him, Normand said.
“Although there were no overt threats made to the victim, obviously she felt intimidated by being under arrest, having an officer who’s armed, and obviously with the authority to take her into jail,” Normand said.
After Casimir drove the victim home, a relative called the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Casimir confessed to the crime during questioning with detectives, Normand said. Casimir has been a patrol officer since December and has been on the force since September 2007.
