New Orleans – WWL-TV, Channel 4 announced today that it has extended its long relationship with award-winning sports journalist Jim Henderson.
Channel 4’s Executive New Director Chris Slaughter said, “We are very happy to announce that Jim Henderson has signed a new contract as the Sports Director of WWL-TV.”
Henderson first joined WWL-TV in 1978, following in the footsteps of sports-casting legend, Hap Glaudi. Over those three decades, Jim has also earned legendary status for his unchallenged sports coverage and well-written commentaries. Known to fans as the play-by-play announcer for the Saints radio broadcasts, his analysis has been especially insightful during the team’s historic run to the Super Bowl.
Jim Henderson said, “Channel 4 has been my home for 31 years and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my career at WWL, one of the great television stations in the country.”
Slaughter also said, “This concrete statement of our mutual commitment to unequaled sports coverage and to our viewers could not come at a better time. Jim has been the most honored, astute and objective observer through the Saints’ bad years; we’re glad he can now continue his storied career here at WWL-TV through their good years.”
Henderson is a 13-time winner of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association's - Sportscaster of the Year Award; an award conferred by sports journalists from all over Louisiana.
