NEW ORLEANS -- Carnival season is officially here and on Friday three krewes rolled through the Cresecent City to the delight of big crowds.

The big parade weekend kicked off mid-afternoon with Krewe of Cork parading in the French Quarter.

Later in the evening, the Krewes of Oshun and Cleopatra rolled Uptown along Napoleon Avenue.

The Krewe of Oshun celebrating its 17th year. This year's theme was "Children Are Our Future."

"It is beautiful. I liked the marching," said Diamond White taking in the 18 floats with her mom.

Following Oshun was the Krewe of Cleopatra which made its way through Uptown to downtown for the first time in its history.  Super Bowl 2013 logistics is why the krewe moved across the river from the West Bank on its 40-year anniversary.
